The Forge

The Forge meets Wednesdays at 6:30pm in the Youth Wing at the church.

The Forge exists to be the bodily representation of the truth found in Proverbs 27:17 which says, “as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” We believe that to accomplish this goal it takes three things.

It takes intentionality:

Just as iron has the purpose of sharpening iron, so we must be intentional about sharpening one another

It takes relationships:

You can’t truly sharpen another person if you aren’t together – in contact with each other – in relationship with one another.

It takes influence:

Iron sharpens iron as it is in contact – The process of contact influences each other and can sharpen iron. However, to sharpen well we must influence one another in the right way.

One thing is certain, you can’t sharpen one another by being indifferent, independent, or incognito. We must be intentional, be in relationship, and be influencing. That is why the Bible calls each of us to spur each other on toward love and good deeds.

We realize the season of life that students go through is often full of heat, pressure, and life can pound on them. We strive to create an atmosphere where they can come to allow God to hammer out their struggles and build their strengths as well as cultivate a family atmosphere where lifelong relationships can be built. At the end of the process, our hope is that they become the tools, weapons, and works of art they were meant to be.
